40. George Fischer was born on 2 April 1892 in rural Holland, Hickman, Lancaster County, Nebraska area. He was baptized in 1892 at the Holland Reformed Church in Holland, Hickman, Lancaster County, Nebraska. He completed his elementary education at Lancaster County Public Schools, District 20, "Wooden Shoe" located at 176th street and Firth road in rural Adams, Lancaster County, Nebraska. George served in the United States Army . He entered the service and trained at Camp Funston and Fort Riley Kansas. He was then assigned to the US Army Medical Corp and served in France until the end of the World War I. He was discharged in 1918 and returned to Nebraska and lived with his parents on the Fischer family farm until he married. He was a farmer in the rural Adams, Gage County, Nebraska area. He died in the Veterans Hospital on 1 September 1951 at the age of 59 in Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska. He was buried on 4 September 1951 at Highland Cemetery, in Adams, Gage County, Nebraska.
George Fischer and Anne DeBoer were married in April 1920 in Firth, Lancaster County, Nebraska.. Anne DeBoer, daughter of David DeBoer and Jane Gertrude TeSelle, was born on 8 April 1893 in Firth, Lancaster County, Nebraska.. She died on 15 March 1987 at the age of 93 in Adams, Gage County, Nebraska. She was buried in Highland Cemetery, Adams, Gage County, Nebraska. They started married life on the GJH Fischer farm located at Firth road and 176th street (NE corner) and across the road east from the GJH Fischer home place. It was a Fischer family custom that when a Fischer son married they would rent the farm across the road from the home place and would remain there until the next son married. When George's brother Carl married in 1932 it was time for George and Anne to move on so they purchased 160 acres, located three miles north on 176th street. They lived there until about 1947 when they moved to the Kaufman farm southwest of Adams, Gage County,Nebraska. They lived on the Kaufman farm until George's death. Anne, Ray, Paul and Clayton continued to live there until Ray and Paul married. Anne and Clayton then purchased a house in Adams where she lived the remainder of her life.
