Gerrit was a farmer in the rural Adams, Gage County, Nebraska area. He died on 15 August 1975 at the age of 81 in Tecumseh, Johnson County, Nebraska. He was buried on 18 August 1975 in Highland Cemetery, Adams, Gage County, Nebraska.
Gerrit Fischer and Morfydd Olewin Kamp were married on 15 March 1917 in the Pella community, rural Adams, Lancaster County, Nebraska. Morfydd Olewin Kamp, daughter of Daniel Kamp and Mary Van Gorp, was born on 23 December 1895 on the family farm in the Pella community, rural Adams, Lancaster County, Nebraska. She died on 27 January 1982 at the age of 86 in Tecumseh, Johnson County, Nebraska. She was buried on 30 January 1982 in Highland Cemetery, Adams, Gage County, Nebraska.
They started married life on the GJH Fischer farm located at Firth road and 176th street (NE corner) and across the road from the Fischer home place. A new set of farm buildings had been built in 1917 just prior to their marriage. They were the first occupants. They moved to the Kamp family farm, located one mile south on 176th street, when Gerrit's brother George returned from the Army and married in 1920. They later purchased 160 acres in the Hopewell, Gage County, Nebraska community and lived there until they retired and moved to Adams. The family farm was purchased by their daughter Ruth, and her husband Walter Unvert and remains in the family to this day.
