45. Johanna (Anne) Fischer24 was born on 18 November 1902 on the family farm in the Pella community, rural Adams, Lancaster County, Nebraska. She was born on the Van Oosten farm one mile east of the Pella Church. She received elementary education at Lancaster County Public Schools, District 20, "Wooden Shoe" located at 176th street and Firth road in rural Adams, Lancaster County, Nebraska. She graduated in 1922 from Panama High School, in Panama, Lancaster County, Nebraska. She wanted to be an elementary school teacher. She attended Panama High School which only went to the eleventh grade. She then attended Adams High School and completed their teacher training (normal school) program. She taught Lancaster County, District 20 country school in 1922 and 1923 until she married. Two of her brothers and several nieces and nephews were attending the school at the time she was teacher.
Johanna (Anne) Fischer and Ted Kroese were married on 11 February 1924 at the home of her parents in Pella community, rural Adams, Lancaster County, Nebraska. They were married in a double wedding with her sister Frona Fischer and Arthur DeYong at the GJH Fischer family home. They lived on a farm owned by the Kroese family one half mile north of Adams, Gage County, Nebraska. Anne continued to operate the farm after her husbands died at a young age. She employed hired men to do the farm work while she and the children did the dairy work. The family took over all of the farming operations when her oldest son Ted graduated from elementary school. Anne and John operated the farm while Ted was in the United States Marine Corp.
