107. Donald James Kroese was born on 22 September 1929 in the Pella community, rural Adams, Lancaster County, Nebraska. He graduated in 1947 from Cook High School in Cook, Johnson County, Nebraska. He was Contract Welder and specialized in boiler repair in Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and Kansas. Donald died on 10 October 1999 at the age of 70 in Rawlins, Carbon County, Wyoming. He was buried in Rawlins, Carbon County, Wyoming.
Donald James Kroese and Mary Carlene Meisinger were married on 24 September 1950 in Tecumseh, Johnson County, Nebraska. They owned and operated Kroese Welding and Repair which they started in Springfield, Sarpy County, Nebraska in 1961 and moved the business to Rawlins, Carbon County, Wyoming in 1980. He specialized in welding of Ammonia refrigeration systems, black iron and stainless steel. He worked new construction and updating of existing systems. He contracted to several companies and did a lot of work at dairies and meat processing plants. Through the years he did work in several states: Wyoming, South Dakota, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Missouri, Arizona, Arkansas and Minnesota. After their last child, Becky, graduated from High School Mary traveled with Donald to job sites in the midwest. They drove between work locations, stayed in motels not knowing where they would be from day to day. Quite often they would be at a location, get a call and be on the road the next day to take care of a situation miles away and when that was finished return to where hey had started from. The song "On the road again" became their theme song.
